How is category A training carried out?

Registration is the first step to obtaining a category A driving licence

Learn the theory online at a time that suits you

You’ll complete the training in our online driving school format via the Liikluslab platform. After passing the driving school theory test, you’ll be able to take the Transport Administration’s test – we’ll organise everything quickly and clearly.

Practice – modern motorcycles and training grounds in three districts of Tallinn.

You can start your driving lessons while studying the theory. At least 10 driving lessons (or 12 if you don’t already have a driving licence). Flexible timetable, personal approach, experienced instructors and all the tools you need.

Driving test – pass the test with our support

You’ll take the test at the Transport Administration with either your personal motorcycle or any of the motorcycles available at the driving school. All elements and the route are drilled during the driving lessons. We’ll prepare you for the real test.

Your category A driving licence is issued and ready for use

After passing the test, you will be given a driving licence for category A, A1 or A2. You can now ride a motorcycle in the appropriate category!

Attention!
If you’ve had a subcategory A2 driving licence for at least two years, you can simply take the driving test at the Transport Administration and get your category A licence.
There’s no need to go to driving school! Age: at least 20 years.

Subcategory A2

up to 35 kW

Conditions for obtaining a driving licence:

a valid medical certificate

Minimum age to start studies:

17.5 years

National tests can be taken

from the age of 18 (driving test).
The minimum age for taking the theory test is 17.6 years.

Training day

24 theory and 12 driving lessons (if you do not have a category B driving licence)
10 theory lectures and 10 driving lessons (if you have a category B driving licence)

Subcategory A1

Engine capacity and power

up to 11 kW and 125 cm³

Conditions for obtaining a driving licence:

a valid medical certificate

Minimum age to start studies:

15.5 years

National tests can be taken

from the age of 16 (driving test).
The minimum age for taking the theory test is 15.6 years.

Training

24 theory and 12 driving lessons (if you do not have a category B driving licence)
10 theory lectures and 10 driving lessons (if you have a category B driving licence)

Attention! Simplified procedure for subcategory A1
- Conditions for obtaining a driving licence: a category B driving licence for at least two years.
- Training Full driving school training for category A1 (at least 10 theory and 10 driving lessons).
- In this case, you will not have to take the theory and driving tests at the Transport Administration.
- After completing the driving school, a corresponding entry will be made in the motor register.
- The right to drive a motor vehicle in subcategory A1 under the simplified procedure is valid only on Estonian territory.
